I’ve read a few articles of late about listening to podcasts when running instead of music. I am never seen without my headphones on a workout. And I always listen to music – I need a beat! However, on my travels around London, of late, I have started listening to podcasts. So if you like to listen to podcasts either on a run or in the car or on your commute then check out my top 5 favourite podcasts on health and fitness.
100 not out
This was my first podcast I ever listened to and was recommended by a chiropractor friend. A play on the cricket terminology, Australians Dr Damian Kristof and wellness coach Marcus Pearce interview people in their 80s, 90s and those who have achieved their 100 and above status about how they have lived and what they think has contributed to the longevity of their lives. These are heartwarming and inspiring stories which always put me in a better mood and remind me that living to the age of 100 and beyond is one of my personal goals!
Athlete on Fire
Probably one of my favourites, presenter Scott Jones interviews everyday people all the way through to elite athletes about their personal journeys and stories. The podcasts often include helpful tips for listeners on motivation, training, health and how to be successful in sport, business and life.
Primal Body Primal Mind
This is a new find for me and I’m loving it! Nora T Gedgaudas talks how the brain and the mind influence our behaviours on nutritional choices. She shares the latest information on brain training and gives helpful tips on how to incorporate this new information for weight management, stress management, improving memory and enhancing brain function. If you are open to learning the connection between the mind and the body then this one is definitely for you. I’m loving all things neuroscience right now so I’m always there!
This is a brand new one for me. Beven James Eyles is fascinated by how some people find fitness as a lifestyle so easy when other struggle. He believes the answer is about behaviours and we need to learn the behaviours that create success in fitness and a healthy lifestyle. So it’s simple really, Bevan talks about the behaviours that encourage you to adopt a fit and healthy lifestyle.
I hope you enjoy listening to some quality information and advice that I thoroughly endorse - maybe you'll even switch from listening to music on your run to listening to a podcast!
